6 Beers on your desert isle

by Todd Antz » Thu May 29, 2008 5:53 pm

I had to move this over from the thread about ESB's to give it its just due.

You are stranded on an island, and can have 6 beers only to get your through your time stranded there (just think lifetime supply, but only 6 different beers). What would you have one your list?

My magic six:

1. Rochefort 10
2. Bell's Two Hearted Ale
3. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout
4. Founder's Reds Rye
5. Gouden Carolus D'or
6. Ayinger Celebrator

And that was tough stopping at six!

The six for my fix:

1. New Belgium 1554 Black Ale
2. Heavy Sea's Loose Cannon Pale
3. Oak-Aged Arrogant Bastard
4. Bell's Double Cream Stout
5. New Holland Kolsch, hey, it gets hot on a desert island, gotta have something light!!!!
6. Schneider Weisse

Man, it's really hard to pick six between US craft and imports......it is tough to stop at 6. I kept wanting to say "this or maybe this"...

Put on then cut:

Sam Smith Oatmeal, Winter
Rasputin Imperial
Ommegang Abbey
Gouden Carolus Triple
Chimay Triple/White
Bell's Two-Hearted

It's threads like this that make me regret being out of college, where beer for breakfast is much more acceptable. (Then again, I couldn't afford these beers in college).

Bell's Two Hearted
Leffe Blonde
Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold
Guinness (it IS good for you, after all)
BBC Dark Star Porter
Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel

That's a great list! I'd be happy with just about everything on it for my own desert island list, although I might substitute something else for the Sam Smith Nut Brown. Guinness on draught, maybe. Or Duvel. Or Browning's Helles Lager ...
