?? buy, sell, or trade - restaurant equipment and supplies??

by Shawn Vest » Sun May 18, 2008 11:32 pm

Hello everyone
on the advice of our host, i propose this post?

Is there any interest in a forum for buying, selling, or trading restaurant equipment and supplies?
Should it be a separate forum?
Could it be included in the help wanted forums?

I (as i'm sure many of you) prowl the net searching for good deals on equipment and often i find myself calculating shipping costs that outweigh the potential bargain to be had.

We as a foodie/restaurateur community should have the lowdown on available equipment and supplies.

I suppose this could also include great deals from suppliers in the community and the odd merchandise/equipment that we often find ourselves searching for or needing to sell quickly.

I'm trying to generate a little input in the hopes that Robin will gain enough information to decide where a forum of this type should call home.

Shawn, as I said in PM, I think it's a great idea, my only question is where. Offhand, it seems to me that it would work best to include both jobs and supplies in the same "inside the business" forum, but I'm willing to listen to suggestions from those who would use it.

Like the idea.
I agree with Robin, and it would have come in handy before we just dropped a huge amount on a new three comp sink!

The thought of "putting it out there" (hoping someone here might have one they needed to part with) entered my mind, but the execution was delayed, and the sink was purchased!

Go for it! (please) :D

Great idea!! Most places I have been (I.E. BBC/Westport/My own) are sitting on a bunch of old equipment that they will sell for pennies on the dollar just to get rid of them and make space. A conduit for equipment exchange would solve a lot of problems. I suggest a seperate buy/sell category listed under the "help wanted"...my .02. (I'll be out for a beer and a pie soon)

we've acquired 99% of our equipment and furniture from auctions and individuals needing to part with extra equipment

and i'm sure that there are people here that have items that are needed by some restaurateur in the area

i also think it would be a great place to exchange information about vendors/suppliers as well as post news about upcoming auctions

for instance - there once was a bar/nightclub in southern indiana by the hobby lobby on lewis and clark and they are selling all of the equipment/furniture

++ if you happen to be in the unfortunate circumstances that may require you to liquidate your assets quickly, we as a community should be able to assist in those efforts

hope others are interested

- Dave, i need to make it over to the BBC shelbyville road also

see you soon

Hi,
my store occupies an old Winn Dixie space and I have some stainless steel 3 compartment sinks, a bread slicer, convection oven, steamer, Hobart Mixer, deli cases etc.
If anyone is interested let me know.

My thought is this: I also have a lot of junk that I need to get out of there. If someone will take it all I will give it to that person. Otherwise, I am interested in selling the equipment of value.

email me if interested:

I have a Cleveland 6 gallon Steam Tilt Steam kettle-Electric with the drain stand base. It retails new for $8500, but it is old, it works great and is clean, in great shape, I would be willing to trade it for a mega top sandwich unit.

Sometimes... The liquidation of a once thriving business makes me want to cry...

But then again... The Vulture in me wants that shiny piece of equipment for the last piece of my own puzzle.

Robin,

I'm for it too. We sold a good deal of our equipment/supplies- some thru this connection on this site- but still have a number of really nice things left. Here's the link to our site, but there are things we have that are not included on this list (like a three bowl sink and faucet). Prices are negotiable.

http://www.gourmetforeveryone.com/GFE/items.html

And then, of course, there's a prime sub-lease of 2800+ sq ft (beautiful space) in the fast growing, highest income part of town. It's perfect for a bistro -style place or deli.

PM me if anyone is interested.
