Shopping at Meijer.

by Doogy R » Sat May 17, 2008 9:23 pm

I was at Meijer doing some shopping today and found some quite striking buys. 8 oz packs of certified organically grown shrooms for 1 dollar each. Australian lamb, free range, never confined to a feed lot, no hormones or antibiotics, only $7.99 a pound for wonderful loin chops. There were some other great buys, but these are the 2 that stood out. So, as much as I attempt to buy locally, sometimes it just isn't cost effective. To all the dyed in the wool indies, unless you're wealthy, it seems there are more local options for the rest of us.

As I do when I dine out, I look for a balance between quality and service. Sometimes, the chains get it right. I have posted at length to this. I do admit to be somewhat amazed with what I arrived at home with today, but I shall surely be going back to Meijer to seek out more great deals.

I did take some pix of the food, some prepared as a meal, but I didn't like how they turned out. If anyone would desire to see what the lamb and shrooms looked like, just PM me.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

 Have either of you noticed that no one is debating you on this issue? It's like you fellas just prowl the board looking for a thread where you can start a chain vs. local argument.

it's going to be ok for the chains, really.

I do not prowl. I believe I add a lot to this board. If you don't agree, I could care less. BTW, who asked for a debate? Last evening, I enjoyed an exquisite meal at Bourbons Bistro. Ron, if you check my posts, I do give a nod to chains, but I am ALL about the local Indies.
