Louisville Connection at Nacional 27?

by Melissa Richards-Person » Sun May 11, 2008 8:41 pm

My memory may be failing me ( I am enjoying a nice glass of Pinot, after all), but I seem to remember an event showcasing a former vet of the 'Ville dining scene that is now at Nacional 27 in Chicago. I ask because I'm headed up on a business trip, and have a reservation for their "Wine-Down Wednesday" - a nice 5-course tasting menu paired with a few boutique wines. If in fact there's someone with local connections there, I'd like to say hello.
Thanks all!

Adam Seger, formerly of the Oakroom I believe, is the GM there. He took very good care of us when my wife and I were there on our honeymoon. Hope you enjoy it.

Wow, I didn't realize that. On a recent business trip to Chicago I dined at Nacional 27. I dined alone and was taken care of like I was the freaking Queen of England. My 10 pm reservation made it perfect for me to stay and watch the salsa dancing competition they were hosting that evening. The food was phenomenal and the service impeccable. The GM (now I know to be Adam Seger) stopped by my table twice to check up on me. When I was ready to leave, my server escorted me out of a private back door so I wouldn't have to fight the bar crowd. It was a very lovely evening for me, and I never once regretted dining out on my own. My only complaint was that they didn't have a better bourbon selection, which is a complaint of mine at most Chicago restaurants. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in town.

Speaking of Chicago....Is anyone going to the NRA show this weekend or next week?

Yup, that's right. And Adam has become even more nationally known in recent years for his creative cocktails. I've seen him in magazine articles several times for his original creations.

Dear Melissa,

As David mentioned the NRA convention will bring lots of us to chicago this weekend. Tell Adam that you are a friend of Anoosh. That is the most fun place, IMO, mostly because of Adam, but the atmosphere is really fun.

When are you going? Maybe we can hook up for dinner or drinks.

Have fun.

I did not realize that there were so many restaurant people interested in the National Rifle Association....

Nacional 27 is a part of the Lettuce Entertainment Chain (yes, chain ownership!). The bourbon complaint is common to all Lettuce restaurants - even the BBQ ones (at Wildfire (and now L. Woods also), for years Makers Mark was listed as a "small batch" bourbon!). We've had better luck at non-Lettuce restaurants in town finding bourbons (haven't been there in some time, but even Everest had a limited selection).

Mark,
I saw that. It is the same weekend as Families for Effective Autism Treatment's (FEAT) fund raiser Create a Stir. I wonder how many Secret Service peeps will be at the Marriott. FEAT is in the Marriott and NRA is in the Convention Center. Ted Nugent will be here too along with that greatest of patriots, Oliver North. They have a post on their web site that KY recognizes all out of state concealed deadly weapon permits. Oh Yeh! Lots of gun toting dudes and dudettes all over Louisville. Shoiuld be a bust to the restaurant community though.
