Corn Dogs!

Where can I get a good corn dog in town in the months between Derby and the Fair? Restaurants, or even frozen...

The Stae Fair brand frozen are pretty good. You can find them just about any grocery store. My daughter gets what is called a mini corn dogs at BW3s and she really likes them... :D

Slugger Field, in the concession stand pretty much right behind home plate.

What is it about corn dogs? I love 'em soooo much. I buy the State Fair frozen ones as well and they're good but I wish I had some sort of deep fryer so I could make my own.
Ummmmm.... corn meal, hot grease and meat by-products! With yellow mustard. My arteries are screaming already.

I know it is a chain (Heaven forbid!) but Sonic has a pretty good corndog for cheaper than the State Fair.

Good luck and pass the mustard....

All you need is a heavy, large pot, cooking oil, and a thermometor. We made them a few weeks ago using Alton Brown's recipe, and the results were great. Light, greaseless crust with moist interior. He added a little bit of spice with cayenne and fresh peppers. I hardly ever fry since I'm trying to keep the family healthy, but the splurge was so worth it.

My sister gave up meat but still craves greasy junk food, so a tofucorndog experiment is going down next month.

speaking of chain's and corn dogs...

When i did my internship at Winston's (Sullivan), they had a dish on the menu called the "Chien de Maïs" - literally, "Dog of Corn".

And well, basically a gourmet corn dog.

I just checked...

Alas, for you corn dog aficionados, it is no more.
