What happened to Bourbon Bros BBQ????

by RonnieD » Tue May 06, 2008 7:41 pm

The past two nights on my way home I have passed a very empty-looking Bourbon Bros. BBQ. Does anyone know why? Are they on vacation? I could not see any postings to indicate the reason they were closed on what are usually open hours. I know they were rolling pretty good around Derby time, so I hope they are not "gone" gone.

Anyone know?

Short answer is, I don't know. But for clarification, I assume you're talking about Kentucky BBQ in the old Cafe Lou Lou location at Frankfort and Pope? It involves at least one of the original Bourbon Brothers, but the name changed with the move.

It's doing just fine. My g/f was just in there yesterday...

Best Brisket in town, imo.

Did the hours change? Because I went by about 4pm (a time I thought they were open) and the place was shut.

Glad to hear all is well.

Give Jucys a try. I think the beef brisket is much better there....

Apparently they ran out of EVERYTHING derby night, and needed time to restock and regroup. They kind of sprang it on the staff also. Staff not pleased. I went in for a quick beer today and gave them a hard time (not really) but I brought my family up to a locked door with a wee little note on it. It's cool, they were burnt. I feel the pain myself. Not gonna stop me from going back in for sweet tater fries and crawfish tails......and most importantly, She-Devil on tap in big 'ol pint glasses!

Good for them! That is a great reason to close for a spell, regrouping is never a bad thing!

I thought their brisket had good flavor but the texture was awful, kind of dry and spongy. Did I get some from a bad batch?

I work very close to there. They are open more times than not. I love the brisket but do take out most of the time.
Building is very cold inside and sometimes the food is too for dining in this last winter on Pope and Frankfort. It's fine for takeout. Looking forward to summer.

They did "cater" from their original location. We used them for a couple of member meetings at the Tap Room and they catered one other event for one of our customers'. It was not really catering, just bulk sales that we picked-up. We already own 2 -3 chafing frames so it worked well for us. :D
