Falafel?

by NicoleC » Wed Apr 30, 2008 8:44 pm

Reading the NYT article today on sandwiches made me hungry for a good falafel sandwich. Any suggestions? Somewhere within striking distance of the Highlands would be great. Thanks in advance!

I'm not much for falafel myself so I can't say if theirs is good but the place on Highland and Baxter recently changed it's name to Falafel "something". Can't get more within earshot of the Highlands than that.

The Grape Leaf in Clifton has a worthy falafel.

Hi Nicole,

Not to toot our own horn..... we at Meridian Cafe in St. Matthews make a really good falafel.
so good in fact, we just won a falafel-0ff a couple of weeks ago.

We have seven different pita and falafel sandwiches, and come with sweet and russet potato chips, and pickle for $6.95!

Hope you will join us for breakfast or lunch one day!

Shiraz is the best I've had in town, when they have it in stock!

I havent tried Meridian Cafe's as of yet though, FYI.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

Not exactly in your neighborhood, but close enough. Head downtown to Safier, it is by far my favorite place for falafel.

In addition to the places already mentioned above, I'm a big fan of the falafel at Al Watan,
3713 Klondike Lane.

I only provided a link. I should've inserted a pic, as I normally do, and will correct that oversight now.

Enjoy, as I have on many occasions. Shiraz rox ass.

Falafel Sucks!!!...

I'm sorry if I've offended my dirt eating Vegan/Vegetarian friends

I don't care how much tzatziki sauce you put on it...

It will still taste like a "deep fried turd"....

Just my opinion...

It is true that some falafels are dry and not that good. But when they are done right they can be quite moist and tasty. I was at Shiraz yeaterday and had a falafel plate. As usual,it was very moist and good.

Dirt eating? Offensive... naa not you Dan. and...... I never heard of putting tzaziki on falafel before.
Gyro (pronounced yee-ro) maybe, but falafel, Never .... kind of like eating ketchup on turkey.

Thanks for all of the wonderful suggestions! My four year old loves Mediterranean food, so I'll have to start trying these places out for lunch! I'll report back when I do...
