bazo's is moving

by Ellen White » Sat Apr 26, 2008 11:44 pm

Just found out today. Bazo's in St. Matthews is moving to the dreaded Dupont. They are closed now and will be closed for 3 weeks. They will then re-open in Dupont. I am not sure of the exact location, but from what I heard, it is in the Village 8 center. They said they are moving to get more street visibility. When I heard this, I wondered if they were moving to where the Chinese buffet used to be, right on the edge of Village 8, but my sister (who told me about it) says she doesn't think so; she thinks it will be more inside the V8 strip mall.
I hate to see it go. The traffic in Dupont is terrible. Also, they may have some competition there, with Qdoba and Moes in the same area. And, worst of all, I hate seeing cool restaurants move away from the heart of St. Matthews. Hey, we're just getting some good local restaurants around here. We want more!!!!

It looks like the ice cream shop (I can't think of the name), is being renovated. I wonder if that is the new spot? It is adjacent to Skyline Chili facing Dutchman's Ln in the Village 8 center.

Isn't this the third time they have moved?

Not this one ... there was briefly a SECOND Bazo's in the place that is now Nio's. This one moved around the corner after an incubation period, but only moved once.

There was the original on Willis, the second on Wallace(current/last location), third on Dupont.

I wonder what will be moving into the old Bazo's...

Wonder if Simply Thai or Karem's will jump at the chance of having a bigger place. Although I was hoping the Queen of Sheba thread said that they were moving into the old Bazo's!

Where will I get my fish tacos???? I wish Seafood Connection were open for dinner...

Amen to all that! Simply Thai deserves a bigger place. I wonder why no one has moved into the old Knit Nook... the little lunch place at the back of the party store should move into it. It's a nice place to take my 89 year-old mother, but the behind balloons and paper plates is just not the right ambiance.

And speaking of my 'hood... the ex-Tologono space would be a great on for somebody...

Bazo's needs to move back to 2003 so it can be good again... I used to go there weekly for the best chicken quesadillas in town, but my last few visits over the past year or two have been extremely disappointing.

I went last week and their salsa bar had only two salsas; hot and mild.

I think I know why the knit nook is empty. Have you ever tried parking over there? If you're going to Bloom's Cafe, you'd better be careful. They will direct you to park across the street before parking in front of other businesses. There's some parking/sign Nazi over there who is intimidating customers. I hate to see Bazo's leave, as it's in our 'hood. I'm holding my breath for Simply Thai...if they go, we may move, LOL!
