Delizie Italiane in LaGrange

by Carol C » Thu Apr 24, 2008 6:52 pm

Bob and I were in LaGrange yesterday flower shopping. We had read about an Italian deli, Delizie Italiane, on the "All About Louisville" Board. We stopped in just to check it out. Everything looked and sounded so good, we decided to have a sandwich there. WOW!!! We each had the Caprese (sp???) which was prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomato and baby lettuce on a Blue Dog roll drizzled with olive oil and a side of pasta salad (comes with the sandwich). Everything was delicious. There is a broad range of sandwiches plus a soup of the day, a different lasagna each day, eggplant parmesan and specials. We can't wait to go back.

It is a small deli but everything appeared to be very well selected--esp. the meats. I bought some bresaola which is fabulous--melts in your mouth. They have a carry out menu which changes each day. Each Friday they will email the next weeks "Menu to Go". You can sign up for it at delizieitaliane@insight.com.

It is definintely worth a trip out scenic Hwy 42, LaGrange Rd or I-71??. It is not a competitor of Lotsa Pasta but a wonderful asset to those of us in Oldham and eastern Jefferson Counties (and you all inside the Watterson!!!).

p.s. There is a brief thread on the "All About Louisville" board if you search for it.

Carol, that sounds great.

I wonder if anyone'd be interested in a forum offline, say we go to Delizie Italiane, The Spice Merchant, a couple asian groceries in the south end, Lotsa Pasta, and Burgers Market and/or Doll's Market?

Bob C, I'm looking at you and the geezer-mobile....

Try and stop me! I think I could come up with something Italian and/or pan-Mediterranean to fit our theme-trip.

If you need drivers for that field trip I will gladly break the land boat out of mothballs and volunteer to drive!

If you want to save a bit of gas and not hit the south end Asian stores I can recommend Choi's on Lyndon- I've found just about everything I've needed there.
I'd love to join the trip if I can.
Great idea Marsha

Sounds like a fun trip ... would love to join if my schedule permits. My subcompact comfortably seats 2! :)

I will make a new thread on the offline planning board so we can scheme. Looks like we have at least two cars and several people interested!
