Post Marathon Dinner

by Tonya Newman » Wed Apr 23, 2008 9:47 pm

Hi all,

Returning after a few years away -- it's nice to see so many familiar names! I'll be in town to run the marathon this weekend, and am trying to decide on a post-race celebration dinner. I'm thinking about Mojitos, North End Cafe, Bourbon's Bistro. Thoughts? Additional recommendations? I haven't had nearly as much time as I'd like to research restaurants. :) Also, we're trying Cafe Lou Lou for my pre-race carb load -- good choice? And last, please tell me Stan's Fish is as good as I remember -- I have yet to find anything like it in Chicago!

Tonya, so far as I'm concerned, Stan's has never dropped a note the whole time they've been open; they are consistently consistent. I've always loved them for eat-in; I've found their fries don't travel very well (but whose do?).

Please do come to Lou Lou for your pre-race carb-up. Order the angelhair with veg and avoid the cheese. And after dinner, come back to Lou Lou for dessert!

I'm so jealous of all the runners  :x

I was 2 months into marathon training for this one, and I got a stress fracture....it's the first derby race I'm not gonna run in 5 years...I'm so bummed!

I'm sorry about your fracture, Jeremy. Btw, I just realized recently that I know you, and I'm so impressed that you have run the past four marathons (Nate could take a page outta your book, in case you wonder how I know you). Hope all is well with you and your fam!

Two years ago we went to L&N Wine Bar after the marathon. It was quite celebratory and delicious! Wine flights, appetizer fondue, delicious entrees, and dessert fondue got the marathon runners (not me!) recovering quickly.
