You don't have to depend on Robin

by Gayle DeM » Tue Apr 22, 2008 10:47 pm

As a registered participant of this forum, you can go to the User Control Panel and name participants as "friends" or "foes." When another registered participant is listed as one of your foes, you no longer are bothered by his/her entries.

I wouldn't participate in this forum if there weren't people that I disagreed with. Opposing views create a forum. If I wanted to have the same views as everyone else I would go to a Led Zeppelin fansite, for example.

Take it all in...that's how I feel.

Broc, I don't disagree with you. It just seemed like some of us, are unable to "put on the big girl panties and deal with it" so I wanted to put out an alternative for the more sensitive.

Thanks for the info. I'm also in the camp of not blocking anyone. It seems more democratic, or at least, it has the illusion of democracy. I like the big messy threads that veer off course and back again and then go to strange places -- that recent gordita trailer thread or the now infamous Rainforest Cafe threads, for example. You'd of thought it was a matter of life and death for some. But the big messy organic nature of the comments, discussion and argument is what makes this site interesting to me. That kind of forum is far more interesting to me than threads full of "yes men" giving each other kudos.

Gentleman, let's put on our big girl panties, and please let's forget about this.

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.

I agree with Ethan! If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

I have never had, nor ever will have anyone on foe. Seems childish to me.

In my experience, music fan sites have a LOT more trolls than this site has ever been exposed to...

I have a shirt that says "Your favorite band sucks" - it's a great conversation starter.

I've always taken the position that it's cowardly to put people you disagree with "on automatic ignore". I've never understood the fear of ideas that are different from one's own.

Just for the record, I sneaked a peek behind the curtain and discover that the "foe" feature is virtually unused in this group. It appears that no one considers it necessary. (Specifically, only two individuals have listed any "foes," and each of them has listed only one "foe" each. I'll maintain a discreet silence as to the identities involved. ;)
