Changes at Cumberland Brews

by Todd Pharris » Tue Apr 22, 2008 12:10 am

I was reading Roger Baylor's beer blog and in an entry posted last Thursday he writes that Cumberland Brews fired their original brewer, Matt Gould. I don't believe this has been addressed on this forum. If it has and I missed it, my apologies.

I'm not posting this to ask why Mr. Gould was fired, because quite frankly that's none of my business. Rather, I'm just concerned for the future of one of my favorite local places.

Also, I wish Mr. Gould the best in all future endeavors. I don't know him but I'm a fan of his craft.

Sad to hear. Matt made good beers for many years for Cumberland. It is always risky to make that kind of change in my opinion. Only time will tell if quality of the beer will remain. Good luck Matt.

Matt and I have worked together for a long time and his depature was unfortunate. As far as the future of Cumberland Brews/Brewery Cameron Finnis has taken the position of Head Brewer. Cameron worked hard for us in the past while contract brewing with BBC (St. Matthews).
