Rick's to return as Blackstone Grille in Prospect

by Robin Garr » Mon Apr 21, 2008 5:15 pm

Word on the street (from multiple sources) is that Rick and Cathy Dissell, having sold Rick's Ferrari Grille, will open a new restaurant - The Blackstone Grille at Prospect Point - in the space that now houses Prospect Fish Market.

Rick is reportedly taking over the space now operated by his brother Don, and will completely renovate it as "a Rick's type restaurant on a smaller scale."

Expected to open in a month or two.

Hi Robin -

Thanks for the heads up! My Rick's fan club here at work had been wondering if/when a new home would be "announced". We'll keep our eyes open.

More non-chain East End food is a good thing.

Agreed, but mathematically speaking, this one is a wash. Blackstone Grille comes in, but Prospect Fish Market goes away. 1 minus 1 equals 0. Or something.

To be honest I have had some less than spectacular meals at The Prospect Fish Market. I just never got enthused about their stuff. We buy seafood at Whole Foods or Seafood Connection and cook at home and generally get a better "fish fix". If they have a bar for cocktails and serve food on par with Rick's then I give it a plus 1/2 to 3/4.

We left Propect two years ago and one of the reasons was that we were always driving to Frankfort Ave. or Bardstown Rd. to eat out. Now they have a Bristol, a sushi spot and soon, Rick's , plus there's Corbett's, Seviche and Mojito's only a short drive away. :x But, we still couldn't walk to dinner like we do now. 8)
When in doubt, add more wine.

I will very much miss the Prospect Fish Market. We eat there fairly often, and always have an enjoyable meal. I enjoy Ricks, but not enough to offset the loss of the Prospect Fish market.

Went to the VIP party last night and I must say I can't believe that was once a fish market. The place really looked great. The decor is really fresh and modern and very comfortable. The place is bigger than I thought it would be, but small enough to be very quaint. The bar is a perfect meeting place for just a cocktail or waiting for a table in the restauraunt. The food was what I definitely expected from a Rick and Cathy Dissell venture. There was four of us and we all ordered different things, so we could share, and I must say there were definitely no complaints from any of us. Check out their web sight.
http://www.theblackstonegrille.com and see for yourself the many items to choose from. I will definitely be back and I'm 20 miles away.

Just a FYI....Went back to Blackstone Grille for the 4th or 5th time again and the food just seems to get even better everytime I go. There must be a lot of people that believe the same, because I got to talk to Rick last night and he said they have been slammed since they opened and the majority was repeat business.
