Derby City Espresso Now Serving Oak Street Pizza

by Matthew Landan » Fri Apr 11, 2008 2:53 pm

We are now serving Oak Street Pizza by the slice!~

We will regularly carry cheese and pepperoni pizzas.

Slices will be $2 each.

Stop in for a cold beer, espresso and hot slice!

Please let me know if you would prefer other toppings on your pie.

Thanks,
Matthew

Whoa! So DCE and OSP are now a ch- ch- chain!? :D

Seriously, Matthew, this is good news.

Curious question, though, if you don't mind answering it: Will you finish-cook the pizzas at DCE, or rush them over hot and ready from OSP?

Ooooh, I was curious about this, too. Robin, if you're taking bets, I'll bet they are composed at OSP and finished in Matthew's oven.

Cool either way, though.

Nope folks... We have no oven!
The pies will be brought over from Oak St and kept in a hot pizza warmer. You know the kind with a lamp at the top and water at the bottom. They won't have more than a few hours life in that so it's all pretty experimental at this point.
It's really going to be aimed this summer at the ballpark crowds, construction lunchtime and slices when we have DJs/concerts.

I'll keep everyone informed how it's working out as we move along.
I've wanted some kind of food for a while other than muffins bagels and cream cheese.
But something that requires minimal prep.

Tomorrow for Thunder is the test run.

Oh and Robin, I prefer the term strategic partnership to :)

I may have to finally stop in for pizza and a root beer. I think my friend Joel said he's going to be helping out at Derby City, or maybe I confused what he said for another location.

I am kind of a big deal.

great news for the downtown crowd
Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. D Barry

Thanks everyone

We're not pretending that the slice you get here is going to be fresher than one you order directly from Adam on Oak St.
If you want the freshest pie you'll have to get it directly from him!
But if your looking for a cold beer and a tasty slice after the ballgame (or before, or at lunch, or happy hour) then we'll have it for you.
I'm going to work hard to make sure the pies are not kept in the warmer box for too long a period to keep the quality high.
Just like coffee freshness is essential in a good slice of pie.
We won't serve coffee thats been sitting around all day and you won't get a slice that's been sitting all day either.

seriously though, anyone down by Market today, go by and grab some slices, and a delicious espresso from DCE. I tried the Milky Way yesterday, it was delicious.
