Will Iron Chef America EVER run Battle Oakroom?

by Robin Garr » Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:59 pm

We're into April, and still no news?

I'm going to start a rumor that FoodTV has decided not to broadcast this battle because Chefs Todd and Duane made Bobby Flay look so bad that it was an embarrassment ...

will it ever air?

by todd richards » Wed Apr 04, 2007 6:17 pm

We do not think it will in this lifetime...

Honestly the last response we received was for us to call back in a couple of months, which was one month ago.

I have no answers only questions myself.

They will be here filming another project for Derby maybe we will get some answers but it is from another production company. Some of the food network staff will be here also.

Considering that only four of the thirteen chefs that filmed this season aired, it could be next year.

Thanks for the update, Todd. It's disappointing ... I know everyone here was so eager to see you guys do your thing. But maybe it will eventually come to pass.

It's not that bad for myself but I think it is horrible for the staff.
They are questioned about it daily and can not answer.

Our PR company has help manage the situation but even they are frustrated.

I wish I had more answers but don't.

Oops ... that might actually be part of the problem, Todd. Media generally doesn't have much respect for PR types and tends to feel manipulated when approached by a flack speaking for a chef or restaurateur.

I agree with you Robin however I was the one whom was frustrated.
I couldn't get a straight answer and still don't have one.

But when you think that Cantu & Blais aired more than 14 months from taping it does not surprise me.

It seems to me that they (Food Network), would not spend so much time promoting the tapings and actually promote the airings. It like talking about the Super Bowl before the season starts. At least with the Super Bowl you know when the game is going to be played.

I guess it doesn't help matters if I complain about it....

So off I go....

Ever since I read about this on the old boards, I have anxiously been awaiting the airing of this show. I love the old Iron Chef Shows, the new ones are ok, but to see Todd Richard's team from the Ville, I say WHERE IS IT?!?!
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

We should start an email-writing blitz to Food Network. I've been looking forward to this for months. Bummer.
