Tony Roma's

Drove by Tony Roma's at the Forum last evening, and it was dark.....no cars in the parking lot. Didn't have time to swing in and read the sign on the door, but I would say they are closed. Not that I will miss it, but, thought I'd pass along.

Read an ad in either LEO or Velocity that they are closing to remodel. I believe the ad said only for a month?

They are remodeling under new ownership.

I really hope the new owners cook food according to chain directions . . . the story I heard (rumor only) was that the old owner par-boiled all ribs, and when the chain tried to force them to cook correctly he won a lawsuit by showing his sales and claiming that Louisville people would only eat parboiled ribs. Whenever we're out of town this is one of the few chains I'll seek out, as a dinner of their onion loaf with correctly cooked and smoked bbq beef ribs is outstanding, but the Louisville parboiled version of beef ribs was awful!

I sent an email to the Tony Roma's Corporate office inquiring about the location. They are remodeling and will be reopening soon.

In my experience, beef ribs are only useful for holding up cows. My wife just received a Tony Roma's gift card, and we are booked for a trip to Vegas where a Tony Roma's is conveniently located. If they are on the menu, should I order them?

Even given that I love bbq, with every major chef in the country represented in Vegas don't know that I'd head for Tony Roma's! (unless there's a time limit on her gift card?)

But, given that, it's a personal matter. In terms of pork ribs, I like St. Louis style, while my wife loves baby back. I think well-cooked beef ribs (with meat on the bones) are great, but in most bbq places they aren't major sellers. It's something to try, with one getting that and another getting a different item, and see what you think! Optimally, they are like eating a juicy piece of prime rib that you can pick up!

A million years ago when I worked at Victoria Station, we had BBQ beef ribs on the menu. They were limited since all they did was used the ribs cut from the prime rib slabs. THOSE ribs were fantastic! I'd love to find someplace that served beef ribs like that.

WOW!! There was a Victoria Station in Berkeley and I think I had those same ribs!!! (cut off of a "109" prime rib, shoved in the cooler, and saved for just that kind of thing). Depending on how the original 109 was cooked (i.e. slow roasted in rock salt or rubbed) the ribs were, or could be, fall off the bone delicious. Thank's Carla for the trip down memory lane!....

I'll definitely agree with this recommendation! Their brisket is some of the best I've ever had and everything else is also very good. They also have some good sides especially their baked beans. I personally think they have the best barbecue in town.
