Where will you take your Mother on Mother's Day?

by Dan Thomas » Sun Apr 06, 2008 3:47 am

The busiest day of the year for most of us in the BIZZ (besides Derby)....

So..What does your Mom want to eat.....

There are a lot of tried and true;... but I would like to know what most MOMS want on this special day...

The last few Mother's Days Neil and I have fixed brunch for our moms at our house. No crowd, no wait, no noise, and guaranteed deliciousness! :)

I have probably posted this on here before, but at the risk of repeating myself, what we usually do for Mother's Day is go to brunch at the Oak Room, or some other wonderful buffet the Sunday AFTER Mother's Day. That way, we don't have the crowds, and have a special time mostly to ourselves. Been doing that the last five years, and it works beautifully. (Yes, Mom still gets a card and a hug on THE day, but we feast a week later).
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!

Anyone who came to Norma Jean's Trackside in La Grange for Easter Sunday brunch may attest to their level of satisfaction. We will be open on Mother's Day from 9:00am-2:00pm. You may call 222-8044 for reservations.

WOW...I just reclaimed my sanity from Derby and now I'm looking forward to Mother's Day....by and large the longest day of the year for most of us...(Who have to cook and serve) Amateur dining at it's best.....

Someone please explain to me why most people insist upon having one table of 20 or 30?....

If Granny or Mom are on the other end, you won't get to talk to her, much less see her if you get stuck at the wrong end of such a large setting....Perhaps I'm missing something but....

Most of the people I know and serve aren't royalty (at least in my mind) that and "state dinners" are the only reasons to have a formal occasion that requires such a long table IMHO.

I for one, don't feel it necessary to take up that much space when your party could be more comfortably (And Most of the time, Better Served) by having say, maybe 3 or 4 six tops?

It seems to me that if you want to segregate the "weird" cousin or in-law it would behove most to give them their own space...

Then you have more room to mingle....

I avoid Valentine's, New Year's and especially Mom's day. Dan said it brilliantly....amateurs! We'll do lunch on Saturday at Meridian, I hope.

On that happy note, we'll be playing and singing on the Spirit of Jefferson for the Mom's day Cruise, so it should be fun.

I'm showing up at my mommy's with produce-rich groceries and flowers. Then I'm gonna do some yard work if the weather's good. She deserves it. And so do I.

Doogy,
I checked out the website and the place looks interesting. I have never heard of it? Who is the owner or the chef? How was the meal?
