Dinner at Varanese

by Nancy Nelson » Wed Mar 26, 2008 8:41 pm

We ate at Varanese, on Frankfort ave. last night, and thought the food was wonderful. I had seared white tuna to die for! The server was attentive, but not annoyingly so. I'm surprised it's not mentioned on this forum more often. Prices were reasonable too. I would recommend it highly.

It's been mentioned quite a bit.

I love the place.....especially in the nice weather when they have the windows pushed aside and you have that wonderful openness. And everything I've tried there has been first rate. Very impressive.

Cheers!

The focus of my post was not about number of previous comments, but about great food, good atmosphere, and reasonable prices. I again would encourage folks to try Varanese for all three.

I will second what Nancy said and agree with her point. I had dinner there a few weeks ago and the entire experience was excellent. I even wrote a mini-review complimenting the service, food, atmosphere, etc...and no one responded. I was a little perplexed too. I was unsure as to whether people disagreed, hadn't been to Varanese, didn't care, or otherwise. Maybe my review was so spot on that everyone agreed with me and there was no reason for additional dialogue...hahaha, yeah right!

Regardless, I would highly recommend Varanese. If you haven't tried it, you should. I know that I will be back.

Thank you Derrick, I was beginning to feel like the "Lone Ranger" out here.

Just for the record, my September 2007 review wasn't exactly a downer.

Thank you Ron Johnson, and thank you Robin Garr. This is , however a comment from two days ago, and not last year, and Varanese is currently, in my opinion, one of the best around.

Works for me, Nancy! Thanks for sharing your review here, and I don't think we've heard a word in dissent of the proposition that Varanese has quickly joined Louisville's top tier of restaurants.

Hope you'll hang around and talk with us about other places you like.

It's kind funny that I just saw John on "The Secrets of Louisville Chef's" last night...

All of a sudden his place is the hot "topic"...

I've had two wonderful meals there...

The service is top notch and the food is excellent...

We love Varanese and go there often since it's practically right across the street. John and his staff have done a great job since opening and the place seems to hum on every night of the week. It's one of the few places on Frankfort that's open on Sunday.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! :D
When in doubt, add more wine.
