I don't think it's open yet...at least as of last time I drove by.

I've been gawking at it for over a week now wondering about this tiny little sushi bar and what it will be like. Would be a great place to rent out for a group or have classes or something. Really small.

I'm very interested as it is near my house, I mean I'm right next to Sapporo, but alway's up for different sushi options. And it's such a small little place.

Oishii, Oishii!!!

The verdict: Very good! I don't at all know the story behind Oishii, but there were several menu items that I recognized from Sakura Blue's menu, including the Hawaiian roll (one of my favorites) and the geisha roll. We had the standard-issue house salad with the iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing. The dressing seemed thinner than usual but was still tasty. We ordered a Hawaiian roll, a crunch munch roll, tamago (egg), and hamachi (yellowtail). Everything was fresh and well-made. The chef gave us a complimentary Oishii roll, which was comprised of eel, salmon, strawberries, walnuts, and some other stuff I forgot to make note of. Service was quick and friendly. The place still smells freshly remodeled but the food and service gave no indication that this was only their second day in operation.

Sakura and Maido remain my go-to sushi places, but Oishii is a nice low-key alternative to Sapporo for sushi in the Highlands. We'll be back.

Dag Gone....Ms. Gina drug me up to Sportstime for a Herbavoir (dang..spell check doesn't read me) pizza. De Dolle Stille Nacht made her drive back. :D
Very much enjoyed your review. Hopefully we'll stop by soon.

Do you know their hours?
I would love to stop by and have a quick snack on the way to work if they open before 1:00pm

I know they're open for lunch, but I don't remember their exact hours. My fiance thinks maybe 11:00.

opposite side of the street from the Old Impellizeri's, Suntan city and PNC Bank on Bardstown.

almost exactly halfway between the Douglas Loop Heine Bros. and the Highlands Kroger.

My son (aka - the guy who can eat his weight in sushi) and I went Oishii last night. It was great. We had six rolls and a gyoza between us for a tab of 53.00. Everything was fresh and tasted wonderfull. We had a Philiadelphia roll, an oyster roll (with cream cheese, very creamy and crisp combo witht he cream cheese all melty next to the hot fried oyster), an eel roll and a spider roll to start with the gyoza. We reordered with a vegetable roll and a crispy spider roll. The vegetable roll included pickles japanese vegetables and was very crisp inside. The spicy spider roll had some of the fried soft shell crab ground and mounded on top of each piece and a nicely spice sauce put on top to mix with the crab. the chef brought out 4 pieces of a complementary roll of fried shrimp and asparagus that also was very tasty.

This is a very small place, but really changed from it's previous incarnations as a Cingular store (bought a phone there once) and custom auto shop; the decor very clean and minimal. The menu is sushi, with soup, salad, some sides and green tea and mochi ice creams. The presentations are artfull, though the service is just a bit shakey, but this was only the 3rd day they were open. There is array of standard and special rolls and I cannot wait to go back and work my way through the whole menu. My son, who is self-learning Japanese, believes the name means "delicious", it certainly fits!! :D
