Looking for farmers to buy from

by Paula B » Wed Mar 19, 2008 7:09 pm

I was wondering if any of the forum folks know of farmers that do weekly delivery? Several of us have heard of people that we can pay a flat rate up front, and enjoy fresh produce thru the season, or we could go pick up, but can't find names/numbers. Thanks for any help.

The meat store in Sellersburg, for starters. Dreamcatcher Farm through Stan's Fish Sandwich. And Stone Cross Farm near Taylorsville through Bards Road Produce Market. Green River beef at Doll's. Thse are among our favorites.

Paula,

Are you looking for a CSA to join? No delivery, but you pick up weekly at a designated spot. Our is downtown across from Glassworks on Wednesday, but there are several in town. For more info go to:

Also, there's a past thread on this topic in Louisville Kitchen.

Paula,
Try calling Nick from Finger Picking Farms @ (502) 287-8206. He has quarter bushel boxes for $250.00 for 26 weeks or half bushel boxes for $450.00 for 26 weeks. His pick up location is in the Highlands at Alta and Bardstown, but he will deliver for an additional $52.00 if it is close enough. I found his flyer at Cumberland Brews and signed up a few weeks ago. I believe that he is involved with the Bardstown Rd. Farmers' Market as well.

Misty Meadows farms, as well as at least one other farm does the CSA with pick up at the Phoenix Hill farmers market. That market is on Tuesday afternoon at the Mellios/Bodega parking lot. That market will open April 22.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Just out of curiosity?...

They've actually been showing up nearly every Saturday at the Phoenix Hill market with meat products and fresh eggs.

I'm in the process of updating the csa list right now, btw. Since it was winter, I kind of put that site on the back burner... But thanks for mentioning it. :)
