Turkey Joe's

by carla griffin » Mon Mar 17, 2008 6:34 am

Just had dinner there last night and found it to be a pleasant experience. The menu seemed to be typical sports bar fare (wings and burgers) but they did offer turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy. Turkey was fine, moist and flavorful, mashed potatoes looked to be little reds with part of the skin left on and were very good. The gravy was a nice surprise because it actually did taste homemade without a processed 'from a jar/can/frozen bag' tell to it. The wait staff were very friendly and casual. I got the feeling the restaurant has already established a crowd of regulars and a 'we're all family here' atmosphere. It was nice.
My turkey breast (generous portion) , mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed salad, 2 dinner rolls and a nut brown ale cost me $13 and change. While it didn't break any new, culinary ground I think it was a good value for the price point. I want to go back and check out the wings and their various sauces.

We had Turkey Joe's carryout yesterday. My Dad had the Philly Cheesesteak, my hubby had a burger, we had lots of boneless wings (verrrrrry good) and the kids had chicken and burger meals, complete with a scoop of ice cream each. The food is very good, and Chef Chuck and Ricky are working hard - it shows!
