Heading to Palermo Viejo tonight...

by Derrick Dones » Fri Mar 14, 2008 3:26 pm

It is my wife's B-day (Sunday actually), and we are going to have dinner @ Palermo Viejo tonight to celebrate. We ate there when they first opened, but that has been so long ago I really can't recall what I ordered. I know many people on this board absolutely love this restaurant, so I'd like to ask for some recomendations. Please let the suggestions fly! Thanks. DD

We like to share the mixed grill and a seafood grill, but honestly I'd be happy w/ anything involving their chorizo. It's sooooo yummy! also, empanadas.

ooh oooh oooh! I know this one!

If you like steak, you MUST order the Parillada de Bifes. It is a sampling of the 3 different types of steak, along with with chorizo atop fries. I always sub the sweet potato fries. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmm!!

And for dessert, the crepe is a must...and make sure to get it with the banana ice cream.

Palermo is one of my very favorites. I would eat there every day if it wouldn't make me as big as a barn.

Amy and Nora, thank you both! I appreciate the suggestions...keep them coming.

I am leaning towards the parillida...it sounds like I really can't go wrong.

Nora, in this case, is chorizo just used as a generic term for the sausage. I have had authentic mexican chorizo, and was not a huge fan. Is this similar or totally different?

There is a new dish on the menu for whom 4 meats are not enough: Parrillada Completa. Chicken and pork and papas a la provenzal are added to the beef, sweet breads, chorizo and salad. My new favorite dish.

Their sausage, short ribs, and flank steaks with chimichurri sauce are pretty good. Their best dish is the dulce de leche crepe with ice cream. It is one of the absolute best desserts you will find anywhere. Sometimes my wife and I joke about going to PV just for the crepe.
