Los Angeles - Restaurant Suggestions?

by Terry Cook » Wed Feb 27, 2008 1:53 pm

Business trip to L.A. in two weeks. Lots of time for eating and wanted to know if anyone has any favorites or can't miss spots. I have reservations for dinner at Red Seven one night.

Thanks for any help.

Where in LALA will you be? There are pretty good eats anywhere!

If you have the money, it is expensive, you should look into http://www.Providencela.com . I spent half an hour on Sunday with my mouth open looking at some of the purest seafood dishes anywhere. It is a Michelin 2 star and could possibly be a 3. From what I remember Chef Todd went when he was out there and said it was better then Keller's Per Se.

Prost!

On my last visit I was introduced to Via Veneto, and just loved it.

If you drive down the beautiful PCH to Malibu, Geofrey's overlooks the ocean, and has great atmosphere. There is also Nobu, if you haven't been to one. Shutters Hotel in Santa Monica also has a great place, w/ fabulous view. Hope you have a great time.

Terry, I'd suggest that you try Tam O' Shanters. This restaurant is the original Lawrys Prime Rib and the one that started the chain. It has a lot of history and is one of the oldest restaurants in LA. If you do go, be absolutely sure that you place an order for the souffle at the same time that you order your entree. The souffles are cooked to order and arrive hot at the table for dessert. The food and service are great and the prices are moderate. The restaurant is in the San Fernando valley at 2980 Los Feliz Blvd. Google it, you will be well pleased. - Mark
