whole garlic, lots of it; or,

bresaola, arugula, cilantro, goat cheese, drizzle of olive oil; or,

sopressata or speck, fresh cherry tomatoes, goat cheese, arugula, drizzle of olive oil, fresh-grated ribbons of parmesan

I wasn't as surprised to see onions beating Pepperoni. Pepperoni is easily the most popular topping in MY store. But since everyone can choose multiple toppings and onions seem to go well with Pepperoni and Sausage Seeing sausage beating pepperoni is a little weird. Mushrooms I would say are more popular than onions though. What do I know though, I just own a pizza shop

I've read that pepperoni is far and away the leading pizza topping in the South, but trails other toppings in most of the US. Further support for my hypothesis that Louisville is not really a Southern city.

Have you ever tried onions on a pizza? If you like onions, it is sooooo good. I prefer them baked on top. They get caramelized and sweet. When I was growing up, there was a little pizza parlor where we would get simply an onion pizza, no other toppings. 4 kids ranging from 7-16, and we all loved it!

I'd forgotten how much I love a good pizza with an onion confit. I haven't made one in a million years, and I've never seen one on a menu. I don't like onions on pizza as a rule, but as long as they're caramelized and made as a confit, they're fabulous.

OK, this is getting bad, I could live with that fact that onions and Italian sausage were beating pepperoni since I like them too but now mushrooms are are also beating pepperoni! Come on folks, a fungus is beating meat? You'd think we lived in France or something like that. How un-American can you be preferring fungus over meat!

I'm a huge fan of pizza with ranch sauce instead of tomato. That's one of the things that is cool about Rich O's, in addition to the pesto sauce option. I love ranch sauce with pepperoni, chicken, fresh spinach, and sometimes mushrooms.

Well, of course I prefer all non-meat toppings! :D

And we had another DE-licious pizza from Oak Street Pizza last night. Mediteranian --roasted tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, spinach (fresh), olives, pesto on a thin crust with a bubbly, slightly charred edge. yum

I can't stand those bland and boring California black olives served at most pizzarias. They aren't really ripe olives, but green olives soaked in lye or something that leaches the flavor out of them. I think that Greek Kalamata or Nicoise olives would be fantastic on a pizza! Do any local pizza joints offer this option?

If the crust is a good one, then all I need is DaVinci Olive Oil, Fresh tomato slices, fresh garlic and S&P. I call it the Bauhaus Pizza. Yum.
