Top your pizza with ...

by Robin Garr » Tue Feb 26, 2008 6:25 pm

Marsha had a great question that pretty much got lost in the "Flying Pizza" thread, and I thought it would be fun to try out some of the features of the updated forum software's poll system.

So, ladies and gents, please let us know what toppings you favor on your favorite pizza. The system allows you to make several choices, which should lead to interesting results. Which topping reigns supreme?

When I'm making one at home I use generous amounts of Lightlife Faux-Pepperoni & Sausage.

I am kind of a big deal.

I may be alone in this: I love anchovies on pizza, but never order them. I put them on when I get the pizza delivered. Anchovies on pizza turn into something different when they are cooked. I like them tossed cold on top.

Prosciutto! Also, I prefer fresh mozzarella on my pizza.

Cool poll, Robin - I had no idea you could do a poll with multiple possible votes.

I don't see my friend the artichoke on that list, and I LOVE artichokes on pizza. And I agree with Nicole, fresh mozz is great on pizza as well.

ARRRRRGH! I hate being on this stupid diet! *waaaaaaaah*

Anymore, when we get a pizza, it's a medium Mama Bearno's, no green olives, extra onions.

The occasional ham and pineapple is nice as well.

Sorry about the diet, Marsha, but it'll be worth it!

I love artichokes on pizza, too, and the Quattro Stagione pizza is one of my favorites - artichokes, mushrooms, prosciutto and sausage, preferably placed on separate quarters rather than mixed. I ran out of poll questions, though. The current maximum is 20. I could go behind the curtain and make it more, but I think 20 is enough. And yes, anyone who sets a poll can allow as many choices as they wish. Pick one or pick five or pick all 20 - it's up to the poster!

Potato! Unfortunately, not enough places offer it as a topping.

Whoa, that was weird, my reply has left the building?

I prefer a spinach, prosciutto and herbed goat cheese pizza. Brick Oven Pizza in Plainview used to keep the ingredients around for me, but they retired and I moved.
My new favorite Pizza Place is Charlestown Pizza Company ( Forumite's own Shawn Vest) - I get sausage and banana peppers there. I think I can probably talk Shawn into carrying the prosciutto for me but the goat cheese would be a stretch.
Shawn, If you want to serve it up call it the "Special K" and we can work out the chemistry.

Shawn,

If you offer salads, do a Greek salad. I go through enough Feta cheese to keep it around as a pizza topping, but 99% of it goes out the door on top of the Greek Salads I serve.

I can't believe I forgot goat cheese!

Greek Salad is a huge seller where I work, as well. Our most popular salad.

we top all our salads with our provolone/mozz mix that we use on the pies
but the feta for a greek salad sounds great

Ken, you are not alone- that is exactly what I've done for years. I don't like the way anchovies cook into salty dust in the oven.
