Hey, Bats fans! How about an offline at the ball game?

by Robin Garr » Fri Mar 30, 2007 4:23 pm

Since some of us are full or partial season ticket holders, and quite a few more seem to enjoy getting out to the Bats game often, why don't we plan a get-together sometime. Even if we're in different seats, we could get together at the pork chop stand to meet and greet at a designated time.

And if we do it really early in the season, I'll enlist as many of you as care to do it to help me review and rate the ballpark food this year!

Will Centerplate continue to offer bad food and sullen service, or will someone in Bats management finally notice that ballpark fare is more than just a revenue center? Let's try to find out!

I'm There

by Dan Thomas » Sun Apr 01, 2007 5:34 am

Yep.. I'm there ...but I think might have a better idea...Let's make a PICNIC LUNCH out of it ...My idea is to sneak in the best possible food we can(and wine also) and really see what going to the game is all about. I can appreciate the crappy food(for what it is) that they serve at the park but, let's do this; every one bring something that you can carry in and get away with(you'll be suprised)and make that a story and laugh about it later.Heck you still get to watch the game that way

I love the concept, but I'm thinking that I would really like to do this thing of checking out the quality of the ballpark fare early in the season. As you said, we can always do both, but my instinct is review first, picnic later.

This thread isn't getting much action, I'm afraid. I want to get the Offline section working, but I think maybe I should pull it over to the main forum for now to make sure all the Bats fans will see it.

As a suggestion of host of this fine forum, I must agree... The more you can bring into the fold the better!

I would love to go! We haven't been since two seasons ago. Of course, it would depend on the day of the week. I'm off most Tuesdays and Wednesdays...

We just need a reason to go to the game! It's one of those things that we're always saying, yeah but there's a game next week and we'll go to that, and then the season is over and we've missed all the home games. Since I reviewed the Chow Wagon last year, I'm up for evaluating the food at the ballpark! If I may, I'll specialize in whatever vegetarian options there are to be found. Early in the week works best for us as we both work weekends.

We love the ball park and love the Bats!

The food, granted, can leave something to be desired, but I loooove David's suggestion of the Tap Room before!)

My husband works from home (when not traveling) and I'm trying to launch a consulting business, so you might even have 2 for day games....

April 24th would be bad for us during the day, but other days might be workable....

Melissa

P.S. - Hi David! Tom and I met you at the open house on New Year's Day

I love going to the Bat's games but hate to see all those season ticket seats going empty all too often. The seat nazis won't let you move to an empty seat even late in the game. If any season ticket holders are not using their tickets for a game, how about offering them to the fine readers of this forum? We thank you in advace.

Our boys are coming back into town this week, and I was wondering if there was still an interest in this event?

I'm still interested, Dan, but also snakebit. We didn't go to a single game in the first homestand due to the weather. And this time, my mother is going to be in town, making it tough to use our two tickets. We've already given away our Thunder tix.

Want to pencil in a firm date for the THIRD homestand and make it happen? Or you guys go ahead without me. I really want to get over there and write a review of the 2007 concessions and prices while the season is still young, though!

That sounds like a great idea to wait until the next time around. They will be in town for 8 games starting the Monday after Derby I think. The more people who come out to the game the more people we will have to sample all of the offerings they have at the park. I've only been to two games myself. That's only because I stopped in at the end of games that were close in the late innings on my way home from work(Man, it was a bit nippy out for a game). If any one has a suggestion for a date feel free to chime in. I prefer the weeknights myself because being a chef, It's next to impossible for me to get a weekend night off. My vote is for Monday the 7th vs. the Ottowa Lynx. I think it would be a great place for everyone to wind down after all of the Derby Madness is over with for another year.
