BIAK Kicks off March Brain Injury Awareness Month
with Mayoral Proclamation,
Fundraiser with nios @ 917

Louisville, KY- The Brain Injury Association of Kentucky announced it will kick off Brain Injury Awareness on Wednesday, March 5 with a fundraiser at nios @ 917 restaurant. Half of all proceeds will benefit the agency, funding its efforts to prevent brain injury among Kentuckians. The event runs from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will include live entertainment and menu specials. Nios @ 917 is located at 917 Baxter Avenue in the Highlands.

Mayor Jerry Abramson has proclaimed March 6 as Brain Injury Awareness Day for Louisville Metro. The day will serve to call attention to the fact that brain injury incidence in Kentucky occurs at twice the national average and that in the next 12 months, an estimated 22,000 Kentuckians will sustain a brain injury.

The Brain Injury of Kentucky’s Executive Director, Melinda Mast, noted "We greatly appreciate Mayor Abramson and nios @ 917’s efforts in helping us reinforce to Kentuckians that prevention is the only cure for brain injury."

BIAK is a non-profit organization dedicated solely to improving the lives of those affected by brain injury. Since 1986, the Brain Injury Association of Kentucky of has helped people through advocacy, education, prevention, research, services and support. BIAK is committed to helping people discover that life after brain injury, although different, can still be rich and meaningful.
