Group Dining

by Jenny H » Sat Feb 23, 2008 11:20 pm

I am asking a question for my mom. She is having a large group (around 40) in for business and she wants to take them out to eat one evening. She is willing to pay up to $20 per person. Does anyone know of a good place to accomodate this type of request? Having a limited menu available for ease of serving and choice would be fine.

Martini Italian Bistro has two private dining rooms that you could use. They can set up the menu anyway you'd like. Contact me if you want their information.

While I enjoy Martini's I think it will be hard to have a nice meal within your mother's budget especially by the time you add in tax and tip. I'm afraid you may run into this same constraint at a majority of the local restaurants or may run into a problem with them having a private room. One option you may want to consider is O'charlie's, several of their locations have areas they can be closed off for groups. I'm sure your mother could arrange a nice meal within her budget there.

Twenty dollars is hard. It's not the most elegant place, but Masterson's can do a dinner for $20.00 in a private dining room. I had to put together a dinner on the cheap last year and they really worked with me to get in at the price I needed. The food was pretty good for the price.

I think I'd contact Baxter Station. They have that back patio area that they use all year, and I think it should easily accommodate 40. You should easily be able to feed people there for under $20 a head as well.

Both KT'S and Austin's have private rooms that can accomidate that price point. OK food, better IMO than Masterson's.
You may contact Jim Gerhardt At Limestone Restaurant, he has a private room that would work, but for the price point I am sure it would be alimited menu. The food is fantastic.
Bristol Hustbourne can probably accomidate as well,

She could easily hit under $20/head at Martini.

With drinks and tip?

I hate to be blunt, but if I ran a restaurant, I'd be wary of a group that wanted a very low rate and might be tempted to ask for a flat percentage tip up front.

My coworkers have used the Bristol on Main St for several years for 40+ parties. Usually the cost was reasonable with a tip included. Libations could be bought on the side.

Jenny, if your mom is looking for Italian and is willing to entertain her group on a Monday night, Melillo's is closed. We open for groups of 25 or more. No rental, order off the menu. Wine and beer available. Give me a call if you are interested. 540-9975. You can ask for me or Ashley.
