Do you like polls?

In case you haven't noticed it yet, the poll setup in the upgraded software seems a little easier to use than the old. To create a poll, just start a post and look below the window where you enter text. You'll see a section with three "tabs" at the top, reading "OPTIONS" "UPLOAD ATTACHMENT" and "POLL CREATION".

Click POLL CREATION, and the form that results should explain everything. All registered forum members are authorized to create polls, and polls may have as many as 20 options. (I can set it for even more on request, but really long polls are rarely needed.)

Give it a try!

I like the majority of poles since they provide informative information about the local dining scene and the likes and dislikes of forum members. This provides a good bases of judgment for new restaurants as members visit them. Every once in awhile a poll appears that I don't think is relevant but heck. . . . you can just ignore it like you do some posts whose subject doesn't interest you.

Bring them on!

I love the Poles! Those jokes are, like, so unfair. They are really smart! Their food's not so hot, but, hey, look at Lech Walesa - and Roman Polanski made some great movies, even if he is a pervert. So, sure, bring on the Poles!

I was gonna say something about poles but figured I would get slammed. So, I am glad to see others can do it with no fear of retaliation.

Polls are cool and a fast way to get a general feel for a subject. The only problem I've ever seen is when people get "poll happy" and you start getting three bazillion polls about anything and everything. I've been on some forums where only admins are allowed to start the polls (and the members can submit ideas) to prevent this. But we all appear to be grown-ups around here, so I doubt that would be a problem.

My last poll was about Waffle House hash browns and was well received and had a great deal of intelligent input. I like polls a lot and have never seen them abused here. Maybe I need to start a new poll.

I have found that, on my discussion board, polls, while often useful to get a snapshot of the views of members on various subjects, don't really do more to draw out discussion than topics w/o polls do. YMMV. :)
