Vito's is now Toni's More than Pizza

by Tony D. » Fri Feb 22, 2008 8:32 pm

Since I brought it up, I dropped in tonite for a pie. Traditional round pizza, no deep dish or Sicilian offered. Thin crust, floppy at the point but thicker than foldable pizza, nice crisp 1/2 inch round at the edge. I don't remember far back enough to compare the sauce to Vito's sweet sauce, but it is definitely not heavy on the herbs and garlic. A twelve inch super, five meats, five veg, set me back $14.87 for carryout and came with pepperoncinis and garlic butter.
So far no major changes to the interior, definitely still has the same old 'dive' atmosphere. They tore out the bar and did not seem to gain much table space in return. The crew of five was too busy for me to chat with, but the former owner was not in sight. Pasta dishes with bread and salad mostly weigh in at $8.50, lunch buffet with drink is $7.99, cheese pizzas at 12, 14, and 20 inch bring $9.50, $10.50, and $16.50, specialty pizzas $13.99, $16.25, and $26.50. Pizzas were served on raised table stands, and there were about 8 of a dozen or so tables busy early on Friday night. An interesting specialty pizza is the 4 Seasons, one quadrant each of cheese, meats, veggie, and super.
Full disclosure: I live about a quarter-mile walk from the restaurant and wish the new management success. I am in no way affilliated, but it would not take much of an excuse for me to eat there again.
