Every time I vote I get an error message. And I can not see the totals. I have had constant trouble with the Bushmils site.

Just voted, Louisville has 55 percent ofthe vote now.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

I've been voting every day and I'm glad we're finally ahead but I've got to wonder how Louisville is even in the running. Boston, like a lot of the northeast has the large Irish population which Louisville doesn't. In addition we've already got Bourbon as our heritage liquor and I'm sure the volume of bourbon consumed in Kentucky far surpasses that of Irish whiskey. It's certainly would be nice to be their sister city but I've got to wonder if there isn't a little more motive for Boston than for Louisville.

Louisville's Irish population, like its German population and its smaller Italian population, is completely assimilated, but it's a non-trivial part of the city's ethnic mix. Drive through the older parts of the city and notice how many neighborhoods - particularly in Germantown/Schnitzelburg and the West End - were served by both German and Irish Catholic parishes in the same neighborhood. They didn't like to mix, back in those days.

Members from Louisville’s Irish Fest and WorldFest planning committees submitted the application for Bushmill’s Twin City search, and plan to use the grant money received towards the development of those festivals.

From the Bushmills page:

LEGAL NOTICE Stuff happens. A technical failure on the site has affected the administration of the “Twin City of Bushmills in America” competition. To be fair to the finalist cities, we need to restart the voting. Any vote cast before February 8 won’t be counted, but every vote cast from February 13 forward will be. The good news is, now you can vote as often as you want (no more "each consumer can vote one time per day"), so start clicking. Any entry into the sweepstakes and instant win submitted before February 8th is still counted and if you were an instant winner, you will still receive your prize. We extend our sincerest apologies for this inconvenience.

The reset mentioned has already taken place. All of our votes are being counted!

The prize for the city breaks down something like this:

$20,000 donated towards an Irish Festival

$20,000 donated towards Responsible Consumption

A "Seether" concert (No clue about venue, date, etc.)

As far as Boston not beating the pants off of us:

I am shocked to be leading, but maybe Boston is big enough not to care. Maybe they're happy with the events they already have. I'm sure Bill Bellicheck is videotaping us right now.

It's great to see how many people are voting, and voting often.

We need the votes!!!!

We are winning, but Portland, Maine is gaining a couple of percentage points per day.

If you vote, please reply to keep this at the top.

Louisville 49%

Portland 34%

Boston who cares?

Thanks to all who have voted.

Just voted again, but how do you see who's winning? I never can find that when I'm on the site and I don't have Popups blocked so how do you get there?
When in doubt, add more wine.

You have to enter for the trip to Ireland after you vote. Then, you can see the results or sign the petition to make St. Paddy's Day a national holiday. If you have already entered to win the trip, get a friend or family member to enter in order to see the results.

Thanks for voting!
