St. Matthews getting a Jersey Mike's

Yes, it's another chain sub shop, but it's also my fave over Subway, Jimmy John's, and Jason's Deli. Interesting location--in the building where Big Lots used to be off Shelbyville Road, which is also home to one of the worst $1.25Tree stores in our city (they finally got rid of the boxes stacked in the middle of the aisles, but it has more empty shelves compared to the one at Springhurst).

I agree that it is pretty good for a franchise. We have one right up the street from us in Fern Creek. I pick up a quick sandwich for my son from time to time.

Although I'm a strong supporter of local joints, our society is structured to where we often have to grab something to fill a biological need--especially on the road. There are a number of, lets say, "2nd tier" franchises like a Jersey Mikes, Chipotle, Panera etc. that are a cut above places like Burger King, McDos, Jack in the Box and others that offer very few appealing choices (at least in my view).

Agree completely... I will also admit that I genuinely love Sausage Egg McMuffins, although I rarely enjoy them because I'm not often hungry in the morning. The McDank app and their rewards program are a decent value, although I can see it being difficult for large families who drop $50+ on a single McDank visit to ever be able to redeem all their points, because you're limited to one redemption per visit. I don't think I've ever eaten at a Jack in the Box, although I drive by the one on Westport Road fairly often.
