Zila Indian Kitchen

by Rich S » Fri May 08, 2026 10:38 am

Zila Indian Kitchen opened in April in St. Matthews, offering a fast-casual version of Indian food. It’s in the Vogue Center, next to Coals Pizza. It’s locally owned, not a chain.

Zila offers a variety of dishes, including rice bowls, but it emphasizes “naanos” — a big piece of naan topped with greens and either curry or kebabs. I tried one with curry a few weeks ago and thought it was a bad concept, because the naan got soggy. This week I tried the kebab version and liked it very much.

The prices shown on the menu are a bit misleading, because the final price varies based on what you include. Still, it’s relatively cheap. My order with butter naan and chicken seekh kabobs cost $10; garlic naan is a dollar more; lamb or salmon costs an extra $2.

I've got notes on a meal there and need to write them up. I didn't try the naano but we had a couple of other dishes that pleasantly suprised me with their authenticity (as far as I could tell ;) ), flavor, and decent heat levels as requested.

Fun fact: It's in the former Burgerim location.
