It is with a heavy heart and deep reflection that we are writing to share that Chik'n & Mi will be permanently closing our doors this Saturday, February 28th 2026.
In 2017 we opened with a mission to make affordable dining feel special and a belief in the good that independent restaurants can bring to the city. We have been dedicated not only to serving you delicious, creative and craveable food, but bringing it all together in a space where people feel welcome, included, and part of the family.
We built together a restaurant rooted in hospitality, connection, and community. We are so incredibly proud of the team that helped bring it to life and the guests who supported us year after year.
As many of you understand, the service industry has faced extraordinary challenges over the past several years. Skyrocketing food cost, inflated operational expenses, and the lasting financial impact of the pandemic has placed strain on independent operators like us. Our every decision was made in the hope of keeping our doors open, preserving jobs, and continuing to serve our community. Despite restructuring, reinvesting, and making difficult adjustments, we are unable to overcome the financial obligations that accumulated during that time. Unfortunately the path forward is no longer sustainable and we must move on.
For us as owners this closure is painful, not just professionally but personally. Chik'n & Mi has been more than just a restaurant. It has been a major part of our lives and so many others. We have been here with you for so many personal milestones and precious moments. Celebrating unions of love through marriage, graduations, birthdays, engagements, and anniversaries. We have shared moments of grief and loss and have seen families come together and watch children grow up all within our walls. This place will be missed and will always have a special place in our heart.
To our staff past and present: thank you for your commitment, resilience, and heart. Every day you came in and made our vision a reality. To our guest: thank you for your trust, loyalty, devotion, donations of goodwill, and mostly your smiling faces. You are the reason for our passion and the motivation to keep the dream alive. Although this chapter is ending, we remain grateful for what we built together. We believe deeply in the power of hospitality, and that belief is not going away. We are committed to learning from this experience and carrying those lessons forward.
Thank you Louisville for standing with us over the past 9 Years! Serving you has been one of the greatest pleasures of our careers! Please come by and spend some time with us this week. Our last day will be an all-day dinner service this Saturday from 11am-10pm. We would love a chance to say goodbye.
With respect and gratitude,
Jason and Aenith McCollum
