At 1511 Bardstown Road, in what used to be KoKo+rAe is now Mom’s Kitchen Indian Food. You can’t park at the door as they are practically at Eastern Parkway, but they do have parking in the back that is accessible from an alley way off Eastern Parkway and of course plenty of side streets on which to park in the neighborhood. They don’t serve you, you walk in, go to the counter, order off the menu or opt for the buffet. All very casual. Collect your silverware and napkins yourself. With the buffet Garlic Naan is complimentary (and delicious) as is Chai (also delicious). The restaurant is small, offering a few small tables and a couple colorfully painted picnic tables. The buffet is at the side of the dining room and for it's size has a lot of variety. It offers vegetarian options like Dal Makhani, Aloo Gobi, saffron rice,as well as has several chicken options, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Curry and my always favorite Butter Chicken. The Gulab Jamun is warm and sweet. You can see their full menu on Door Dash. I couldn’t find a menu on Facebook and I don’t think they maintain a page there. They do post on some of the Facebook foodie groups though. The buffet is every day and is $16.99. Honestly I’d go back and just wallow in the Butter Chicken. It is easily the best I’ve ever had here in town. Spicy but not too, creamy but not too. The garlic naan is made fresh and is heavily studded with garlic. I think there is a real Mom in the kitchen as a friendly lady came out a few times to inquire about our impressions of the food. Sunny, a helpful, personable young man worked the dining room. This little place is worth a trip to the Highlands, or a call to Door Dash. I certainly will be back.

Thanks for the tip. I long for the days when we had multiple quality, and affordable Indian buffets in town.
