Bubba's 33

by James Natsis » Sun Nov 03, 2024 10:49 am

It looks like after long delays, construction has progressed and signs have been posted. It will be located next to Bates Elementary at Bardstown and the Gene Snyder in Fern Creek.

Based on their website pitch, it doesn't appeal to me. However, to be fair, it is part of the Texas Roadhouse group so I guess that is a good sign. I imagine that it will go over well with the average suburban Joe in this area.

So who knows more abour this franchise? Has anyone been to the indiana location?

Is Bubba's 33 what you get when you move Brendon's Catch 23 to Fern Creek?

Bubba's 33 has been open for several years now over in Clarksville, IN, and it is always crowded. The food is fine, and if you like watching sports, it's even better. I suspect It will do very well in Fern Creek.

They have some really good burgers......

Now if only Hy-Vee would quit dithering about the building the store in that same development. I don't know what they're waiting for. A sign from God? Are they waiting for Publix to decide to open somewhere besides the upscale northeast corner of town? Yes, I'm salty about it.

The fact that Publix opens only in the far-out suburbs tells me all I need to know about Publix. Well, and also that my sister lives in Florida and can shop at Publix any time she wants to, but is not impressed ...

Ah, Publix. Can't think about the place without thinking about the owner's politics. So, I'm not a customer.

I visited a Publix in Daytona last winter. I don't understand the hype. I may visit the one in Louisville one of these days. But there is no need to hurry......... As for Hy-Vee, who knows what the heck is going on. Kudos to them for for being an employee-owned supermarket chain. But I don't anticipate them bringing anything that Kroger, Walmart, Valumarket or Save A lot don't already provide nearby with the exception of more needless traffic!.

After posting here recently about Publix, I returned to explore further.

I stand by my underwhelmed attitude as to Publix as a grocery store. For the most part Kroger may even be a bit better. But frankly, they're much of the same.

I think the hype comes more from the prepared food and hanging around for a drink or to eat. These options are a step up---coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, and even beer, along with more expanded space for consumption. The bakery sectiion is probably a little better than Kroger as well.

So I will give them credit for those aspects of the visit. But its still a Boers Head type of deli selection as well as none specialists baking stuff from a package.
