A bit more from the Business First story, which says this place will open in about a year:

General Manager Brad Nam said the Louisville store’s food court will include a Korean bakery and a restaurant serving Korean food, among other concepts that are still being determined. ...

As for Saraga’s long-term plans, Nam said if the company’s first Louisville store does well the company could open a second area location. He also said Saraga may open one or more of its food court concepts in Louisville as stand-alone restaurants outside of the grocery, as it has done in Indianapolis.

And a nice 2018 piece from Bon Appetit about one of the Columbus, Ohio, locations:

This place looks awesome. We have a few places that are similar (Viet Hoa--near the RR tracks, and Guanajuato both on Poplar Level), but this is really cool. However, the above post states "in about a year."

Why would it take so long? Do they plan on expanding? Lucky's seems a little small compared to what these pictures indicate, if I recall correctly. There is a lot of empty space in that part of the plaza.

They're not expanding beyond Lucky's -- the leasing diagram ( https://www.moodyscre.com/marketplace/p ... 5/photos/4 ) shows the only other vacant spaces are at the south end of the plaza. This location will be smaller than most of their current stores. And you're right, it's surprising that it will take a year to open the store.

Thanks for the clarification. I can't wait!

Looks like a place I'd definitely go to! To insert still more info into this thread, let's put up the content from Saraga's "About Us" page:

There were two young brothers in a small town in Indiana in 1992. We started out by selling products in their truck in Florida, Kentucky, West Virginia, and even remote villages. This was the beginning of Saraga International Grocery.

We can never forget a warm meal that an old lady gave them when we went to a small village for selling. From this meal, we were determined to sell groceries and foods that would make people happy.

In 1994, a small grocery store, ‘Saraga’ was opened in Bloomington, Indiana. Saraga means “living” in Korean, and its mission was “to provide food and goods necessary for people’s lives”

Saraga had provided good foods in Bloomington, Indiana for over 10 years. However, we two brothers recognized that America was becoming a multicultural and multiracial community where diverse people from Asia, Europe, South America, and Africa lived together. So, we decided to establish an international grocery store to accommodate the lives of these people.

The first 62,000-sqft Saraga International Grocery Store was opened in north Indianapolis, Indiana in November 2005. We have struggled through lots of trouble and adversity, but we have always done our best to overcome ours. Even though we sometimes went through failures, we have achieved lots of success and stabilized our business. And we were determined to satisfy diverse and international people with good quality and good price.

Under the slogan, “Food from all around the world,” the second and third Saraga International Grocery Store was opened in Greenwood, Indiana states in May 2010, and Columbus, Ohio states in March 2013. Saraga provides over ten thousand different kinds of foods and goods to customers with diverse cultural and racial backgrounds. Saraga will do its best to deliver more diverse and better foods and goods to more people while opening more stores in the US in the next few years.

Saraga is now facing a turning point for a new change with a new slogan, “Good Price, Good Products, Good People.” Saraga will strive to satisfy customers with a lower price but better quality. All staff in Saraga will always serve customers with kindness. Saraga will be a happy and enjoyable shopping place for all people.

The leasing diagram shows the space that the former spirits and wines store next door occupied is included.

I drove by there last week for a look. That store space lines up with the diagram, is empty and seperated by a simple drywall. There is a large patio area in front of the old store with an overhead. My guess is that is where they will put the foodcourt.
