I happened to stumble across this place this evening driving down from the Germantown neighborhood. I don't think I've ever gotten out of my car along that part of Broadway. But it was worth the effort.
They are located at the corner of East Broadway and Logan St. in a very interesting historic building that is the process of rehabilitation in steps. The food hub just opened a few days ago following a soft opening event.
The space has a lot of character housed in such a nice, solid brick historic structure. There is a store at one end that, leads into the pizzeria long counter and smaller room, that leads into a larger spacious open dining hall that is conducive to intermingling with or observing other folks lined along a variety of table lengths and arrangements. There is also outdoor seating in a cordoned off area mainly along Broadway. As the name indicates, the grocery products and all of the food are locally sourced. Trellis Brewery also had a beer stand inside.
Its an interesting location that actually has potential since it is en route between downtown and Germantown, Nulu, and the Highlands. Trellis is not too far up Logan St and Paris Pointe is not far either.
I had eaten shortly before entering so I didn't eat anything. But its definitely worth stopping in and supporting them. I spoke to a few people there--the floor manager and the owner . They feel bullish about the location and the potential. The owner indicated that it was worth the risk to get in early. They have a location in Frankfort which apparently has worked out well enough to expand into Louisville. localsfoodhub.com
