Takashi Sushi Steak Poke Bowls

by Terri Beam » Sat Jul 13, 2024 7:46 pm

I spied a new restaurant coming to Fern Creek in the newly remodeled strip mall behind Moby Dick.

So sushi, steak, and poke bowls, but I can't find a website for them yet.

I like sushi, but we already have Sake Blue and Asiana, so I'm not sure another sushi joint is going to do well.

Side note: apparently the area just south of Moby Dick is going to be an extension of that shopping center, except it won't be a strip mall. There are several pads listed as "coming soon" on the developer's website. I'm crossing my fingers that someone will bring boba tea to Fern Creek.

The Creek keeps on growing! Thanks for the report, Terri. Even if it feels like an excess of sushi right now, I expect it's better to have more restaurants coming in than old restaurants closing down!

It's not in Fern Creek, but Sisters Boba Tea is fairly close by, on Beulah Church Road. I haven't been there, but it gets good reviews online.

Takashi had its soft opening yesterday (Aug. 16), according to its Facebook page.

I'm excited about that menu. They have boba tea! Not a huge selection, but within 5 minutes of my house is great. We have Sake Blue and Asiana, but this menu is quite a bit more varied. They also have ramen.

They're open for lunch too. My only concern is if they hit it big, the parking will be problematic until they finish building the lots in the new space next door.

OK. I've been there a few times now and I gotta say, the place is extraordinary. The menu is extensive (6-8 pages) with so much more than just sushi and a hibachi grill. There's several types of Yakisoba (stir fried egg noodles), Ramen, 12 different poke bowls, 30 various cooked/fried/raw rolls, 7 different Tonkatsu (fried cutlets) 10 different Nigiri, 14 raw Sashimi and 10 cooked and at least 7 different vegetable rolls along with a bunch of large salads, various appetizers, and soups. This is a great place to take friends that either have never had Japanese food or think that raw fish is all there is to be had. And there's plenty of options for those that dine meat-free. The bar offerings are pretty mainstay but antiquate. My only complaint is the 25 minute drive from my home.
