3 bakeries to open this year

Patisserie Francaise Louisville plans to open in April at 1355 Bardstown Road. The pastry shop is owned by Charles Reed, who also ran Henry’s Place and Melba’s Culinary Canvas.

Crust & Crumb, which has been selling its baked goods at farmers’ markets, will open a bakery/cafe in late spring or early summer at 6301 Meeting St. in Norton Commons. It will sell soups and sandwiches in addition to its breads and pastries.

Elderberry Provisions is aiming to open in April at 3909 Chenoweth Square in St. Matthews. Its website says it will offer cookies, cakes, pies, tarts, sandwiches, soups, salads and dinners to go. It’s replacing the Cheddar Box; see the Cheddar Box post for some earlier discussion of Elderberry.

Wow, nice find, Rich.

Three legit bakery/pastry shops in three good locations. I can't believe we will finally have a no-nonsense patisserie francaise, complete with French terms on the website for the specific products. And a quick recovery for the defunct Cheddar Box, while Norton Commons keeps steam rolling ahead!

Rich, thanks as always for your sleuthing! I'm particularly interested in Patisserie Francaise ... can't wait!
