Ramiro's closing on Frankfort, open in Jeff

by Robin Garr » Wed Dec 28, 2022 1:01 pm

News posted on Ramiro's Facebook page today:

Dear Ramiro's Cantina Customers and Louisville Community:

For the past 15 years, Ramiro's Cantina on Frankfort Avenue has provided the Louisville community with high quality, fresh, home-cooked Mexican food and great service. It's with a heavy heart, we have decided to close Ramiro's Cantina on Frankfort Avenue as of December 30th, 2022.

We will continue to do Food Trucks, catering and weddings (special events).

We are truly thankful for our amazing customers and staff who supported Ramiro's. Thank you to the community who embraced us so kindly and for the wonderful memories we created here.

Please visit us at our new location in Jeffersonville, IN at 149 Spring Street.

We hope to see many of you to share one last margarita at Frankfort Avenue and look forward to seeing you In Jeffersonville, Indiana 2023.
Sincerely,

Ramiro and Family

I'm surprised at this. They always seemed very busy.

yeah, but as we are quickly seeing, busy doesn't always equal profitable or even sustainable. With the rising cost of everything, margins are slimmer than ever and even volume can't always solve that equation. We're not done seeing losses from the pandemic fallout, sadly, not for a while. At least they're able to keep the one in Jeff going. Lets hope it's addition by subtraction.

The Yellow Cactus will be moving into the Ramiro's building. It's a Mexican restaurant that already has locations in Floyds Knobs and Jeffersontown. I'm not sure how it compares to Ramiro's; I've never been to either place.

I have friends who live in Floyds Knobs and like the Yellow Cactus, but I think it's more for fun and good eats than serious culinary examination ...
