Breakfast?

by Brad K » Sun Feb 10, 2008 6:52 pm

Have a few more days in Louisville. Lynn's is starting to get old.

What are some good spots to hit for breakfast? Is Twig & Leaf on Bardstown Road any good?

Thanks.

(Please don't recommend any place with "Evans," "Waffle" or "HOP" in their name.)

Personally, I think Twig and Leaf is overrated. I should say it is overrated whe you are sober. Otherwise, it is good.

The new hot place is Wild Eggs in the Dupont Square, and there is the other hot spot, Toast on Market. However, if you want a good old greasy diner breakfast experience, I would say Barbara Lee's on Brownsboro Rd. It is open 24 hours, and no matter when I have been there, it is the same people working. Great conversations.

There are a lot of good places for breakfast, but North End Cafe is my fave.

Wild Eggs and Toast on Market (not Main) are probably your best picks for a breakfast that's comparable to Lynn's but different. Twig & Leaf is an old diner-style place, but not really up to them. Mr. Z's at Third and Breckinridge just south of downtown is also good for classic diner-style fare.

Wild Eggs is amazing and they do many different dishes well. Toast is good for pancakes and breakfast sandwiches. If you are in the mood for more standard, but exceptional, fare, North end is the place.

I love North End but, I like breakfast at the Grape Leaf just a little more. Frittata, grits and/or omelets are wonderful and, one breakfast entree with a side is good for two.

I wasn't aware The Grape Leaf did breakfast. Is it daily?
