closing and moving

by Andrew Mellman » Wed Aug 24, 2022 11:15 am

Saw on another forum:

Evidently Goose Creek Diner around the first of the year will be moving to the Lyndon/LaGrange location currently occupied by Sal's (and to the place next door more more seating) as (1) Sal is retiring, closing the business, and moving to Italy and (2) the current Goose Creek Diner landlord wants to modernize the spot and connect it to the new corner strip so they need to move.

No idea if this is true, but a lot of discussion about it!

I've heard this also. I do know that Goose Creek is moving, and Taj Palace is tearing down that building and building their own in its place (we ate at Taj the other night and asked about the rumors that have been floating around). The server didn't know any specific dates.

There was a big discussion about this on NextDoor and they only are moving temporarily while their present location is demolished in a new building built there. Then they will move back. I'm sure this will take a while but hopefully they won't lose customers while doing it.

Here's the post from NextDoor:
"The move is temporary.
They will be tearing down the existing building and building up over that lot, and the vacant lot new structures like what was built for the new county and will be relocating back to that site. Moving to Sals will be a temporary relocation."

My parents are weekly regulars at Goose Creek and their beloved server told them it would take a year to get the Sal’s spot ready. Nothing about it being temporary.

The Sal's closing within business 1st this morning. There closing at the end of the year but the article didn't say anything about Goose Creek moving into their building. The owner is retiring.

Here's the article from business 1st for those of you who can read it (1st 5 each month you can read for free) : https://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/ ... 2022-09-05

That's interesting since the article in a Business 1st said that Sal's wasn't closing until the end of the year!

They have a bunch of blue things attached to the front and side facade on second floor, looks like something you would use to attach some moldings or sign mounts maybe, that was last week..

UPDATED INFORMATION

by Mark R. » Mon Sep 19, 2022 2:03 pm

There was a lot of additional information provided about this move today on business 1st, I'm listing the link below for those of you who haven't used up your monthly free reads or if you have a subscription.

According to the article they are moving in reopening at the new location probably in April, the present location will stay open until about 2 weeks before it opens in the new location. They are taking over additional in the building to make a total of about 4000 ft.². There is no plan to come back to the existing location. They are also going to change the concept to be more like The Gander was a Bar and alcohol sales in the restaurant is just going to be renamed to be The Goose. He also discussed menu changes saying that some items would remain and others would just come back as "specials". Sadly I think many of us will miss the existing concept and won't appreciate it being turned into a Bar like atmosphere.
