Turn-Key restaurant opportunity in New Albany.

by Roger A. Baylor » Sat Feb 09, 2008 9:52 am

With Robin's blessing, I'm reposting the following from Matt Bergman, who with wife Jessica owns a historic commercial building that they've very nicely restored in downtown New Albany. The location is 315 E. Market, across from the former Bistro New Albany and the Grand Convention Center. The storefront was occupied by Treet's until a month or so ago.

It is true that both the Bistro and Treet's have ceased business, but there are steps backward and steps forward in any downtown revitalization. The building that NABC hopes to convert into a brewery and taproom (an expansion of our current operation, which will remain as is) is only a block and a half away from Matt's and Jessica's building. We have a new/old mayor and a refreshed city council, and much is going on behind the scenes.

Thanks, and I'll turn it over to Matt.

I wanted to make you all aware that we recently lost one of our downtown businesses when Treet's Bakery Cafe closed at the end of January.

Jessica and I are in search of a new tenant for our location at 135 East Market St. We would love to have another bakery & cafe type of place but are open to other options.

To secure a quick turn around, we have purchased all of the equipment and furniture in our building from the bank. This means we have a turn-key operation that is ready to open right away. The lease will be $1530 for over 2400 sq ft of restaurant space. We will also consider offers to purchase the equipment out right, creating an option to receive a lower monthly lease payment.

If you know of any businesses looking to expand or start a new business, please contact Mike Kopp 502-386-9022 to arrange a time to see our nicely restored space at 135 East Market St.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. D Barry

To echo Roger, it is a GREAT opportunity and Matt and Jessica are two of the nicest people I have met and are fine landlords. It is a better location than my place was and has huge potential for someone to get in on the ground floor with very little capital outlay. (disclaimer, I owned the place across the street and while my wife owned Treets, I have no interest at this point in either venue, nor does my wife, It's just a really cool place!!) Talk to you soon Roger!
