Irish Rover getting $40,000 grant

by Mark R. » Fri Jul 08, 2022 3:11 pm

According to article from business 1st the Irish Rover is 1 of 25 restaurants nationwide getting grants for historic independent restaurants.

Here's the article from business 1st: https://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/ ... 2022-07-08

Here are some of the text of the article:
"The Irish Rover is one of 25 eateries in the U.S. to land part of a $1 million grant meant to assist historic independent restaurants.

American Express (NYSE: AXP) and the National Trust for Historic Preservation on Friday announced the 25 U.S. historic independent restaurants that will collectively receive $1 million in grant funding through the “Backing Historic Small Restaurants” grant program, according to a news release.

In its second year, the program will award each establishment $40,000 in funding to help improve the restaurants’ physical space and offer the grantees critical operating costs to help them better serve their customers and grow their businesses.

These grants will help historic restaurants make much-needed updates such as creating outdoor seating, address deferred maintenance of their historic spaces to help serve their communities for years to come, and fund other general operating and marketing costs.

In a recent post on its Facebook page, The Irish Rover, located at 2310 Frankfort Ave., said it was looking for a design-build contractor to build a new cover for the entrance to the restaurant and part of the walkway."

Thanks for bringing that to our attention, great news. The building will benefit from a bit of freshening. At the very least it will help offset some of the costs of the door the nazis burned.

Glad to hear this. The Rover is my Crescent Hill go-to. They did things the right way during the "great unpleasantness." I've always found Michael and his staff to be welcoming and attentive.
