Yet another new "Chicken" chain restaurant!

by Mark R. » Wed Oct 27, 2021 11:39 am

According to Business 1st this morning, Endeavor Restaurant Group (whose founder and CEO is the former President and CEO of Papa John's) will bring a Waldo's Chicken and Beer restaurant in Norton Commons early next year.

Here's the article: https://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/ ... mvXF72JLTj

Here's the website for the restaurant with menu: https://waldoschicken.com/menu

Apparently the pandemic hasn't slowed down the development of new restaurant chains and their expansion!

 I certainly agree! Of course the fact that it's in Norton Commons and a chain restaurant also didn't help any either!

Would it help to know that he was moved to CEO to revamp the company after Schnatter was "fired?" (And, he generally is given very good marks for accomplishing that!)

He also bought LouVino, and expanded it, I think pretty successfully . . .

I know not many on this board love chains - especially if said chains are suburban - but nonetheless given the population around Norton Commons probably has fewer restaurant choices than other areas of town per capita, and really has no chicken places nearby, it looks like a smart business decision!

The way it's advertised World of Beer may be it's biggest near-by competitor.

I hear you, Andrew. All that's fair, although I guess Schnatter permanently tainted Papa John's for me. That, and mediocre pizza. I'm trying to remember my restaurant genealogy here: He bought in to LouVino when the original owners got busy expanding Biscuit Belly? Or am I mixing up separate stories?

I honestly don't remember! I knew Endeavor bought LouVino, and also Endeavor is bringing Big Bad Breakfast to Louisville (I think into the old Lynn's location?) which competes with Biscuit Belly (I think), but I no longer have any relationship to any of them (20++ years ago as a Consultant I wrote the first Strategic Plan for Papa John's).

Looking at the menu for their Nashville location, I see they're charging $14.99 for a half chicken and two sides, or $36.99 for a rotisserie chicken, three large sides and four biscuits. Maybe that'll go over in Norton Commons but I'm not sure about elsewhere in town.
