El Pastorcito opens on South Hurstbourne

by Rich S » Fri Sep 24, 2021 8:41 am

El Pastorcito has operated for more than a year near Outer Loop and Preston Highway, although I wasn’t aware of it. This week it opened a second location at 2060 S. Hurstbourne Parkway, where Mi Casita used to be. I spoke briefly with one of the owners, who emphasized that El Pastorcito is a taqueria serving street food (tacos, sopes, tortas, etc.) rather than a place with a lengthy menu like, say, El Nopal. I picked up two tacos to go (pollo and chorizo) and enjoyed them. They were a bit smaller than the ones I get at Taco Choza, but also cheaper ($3.25 each). I’ll definitely go back to try more of the menu.

I’m not sure why Mi Casita closed, but I think it happened about two months ago. The original Mi Casita on Fourth Street downtown is still open, as far as I know.

Thanks for the report! We can't have too many real taquerias, if you ask me. 8)
