New breweries, opening soon

by SilvioM » Tue Jun 22, 2021 11:40 am

It seems they are popping up faster than taco places:

Shippingport Brewing Company -- 1221 W. Main, opens Thursdsay https://www.facebook.com/ShippingportBrewingCo/
Epiphany Brews -- 1525 Highland Ave., supposed to open this month, behind the post office at Highland/Bardstown Rd., no web presence yet

The former is female owned (a first locally, I think), the latter is partly run by the renowed Ivor Chodkowski. So if they serve food, it will surely be good.

Shippingport is open. I went a couple of weeks ago. They only had three beers on tap, with more to be added. All the food coming out looked great.

The food on their Instagram does look good — can’t wait to try this place out!

Some updated news about local breweries:

Oldham Brewing Co. will open Thursday (St. Patrick’s Day) at 10601 Worthington Lane, just east of Norton Commons.

Epiphany Brews, which originally was supposed to open last summer at 1525 Highland Ave., now plans to open this summer, according to LEO. It sounds like it will be a cross between a brewpub and a bourbon bar.

Gallant Fox Brewing must be doing well; it’s expanding its Clifton location (2132 Frankfort Ave.), roughly doubling its seating capacity. Gallant Fox is also opening a second location in Mount Washington; supposedly it will announce an opening date soon.

A brewery is planned at 1753 Bardstown Road, near El Mundo’s Highlands location. City records don’t give a name for the brewery, but it looks like it may be a taproom for Lexington’s Pivot Brewing, which makes cider as well as beer.
