Legend Crab Cajun Seafood; 502 Crab House

by Rich S » Tue Jun 08, 2021 2:44 pm

Louisville’s Cajun seafood options continue to expand.

Legend Crab Cajun Seafood opened quietly a couple of weeks ago at 3020 Bardstown Road, in Gardiner Lane Shopping Center (the old Buckhead Mountain Grill spot). If you can trust the online reviews, the food is good but the service could be better.

502 Crab House will have its soft opening, with a limited menu, this Friday (June 11), with the regular opening two days later. It’s at 5023 Mud Lane, off Preston Highway near the Bullitt County line. They’ve been working on this place for close to a year; I don’t know why it took so long.

All these crab places opening up are reminiscent of the boom and bust of pizza places.. kind of a weird thing, I wonder how much pent up demand for crab exists

I visited Pier 17 on Hurstbourne a few months ago and was "underwhelmed".

Can anyone compare and contrast the various crab or "boiled seafood" places?

If that's a hint, I'm not sure I want to volunteer.

I have been to Pier 17 a few times with my DIL and grandkids and Stormin Crab in Indiana yesterday infact. I quickly got burnt out on the boiled seafood concept, thought it was over priced and usually overcooked, but yesterday I ordered the fried Oyster basket subbed out sweet potato fries for a bit of an upcharge but worth it. the oysters were fairly large and crispy10 in an order. They were much better that the boil in bag I usually and DIL ordered crab cakes, 5 year old Connor was happy with Chicken nuggets and fries and the complimentary seafood bread. Total was about 34 dollars then added 20 percent tip.

I ordered the fried Oyster basket

That's what I ordered at Pier 17 and was underwhelmed...gave it at best 5 out of 10...now that I am remembering I think it was a 3 or 4. I always thought The Fishery had decent fried oysters...haven't been there in a year.

The Fishery is a solid place and not that expensive.
