Sow Bistro

Haven't seen a mention of this, but the weird location built into the side of a hill across from Bard's Town in the Highlands is operating as Sow Bistro. I looked up the menu; sort of New Jersey diner lite. Burgers, cheesesteaks and schwarma. Its a cool location but I fear not enough foot traffic. Seems like it was a hot dog stand years ago.

It's just a little off the Highlands beaten track, but I can't resist pointing out that the big yellow brick house up above on that hill, facing Ivanhoe and backing up to Speed, was my grandparents' house back in the day.

I've not eaten there yet, but it's slightly north of that, directly across from the old Better Day's place and the new El Mundo location. It is a small, one-person operation, no seating, only grab and go.

It was a hot dog place and, at one point, a summer treats place, maybe shave ice or snow cones. It has been there as long as I remember and I'd be curious to know when/what/why it was when it was first built.

Got it! It’s the owner’s last name. He’s Senegalese.

Sow is a common name in Senegal. I figured it was Senegalese by the use of the word "sow" and "bistro," and by several of the menu items. The Senegalese pronounce it as "so" whereas people speaking English or any other language may use other variations.
